Snoring and sleep apnoea
Sleep quietly. Wake up rested.
A custom made Panthera device, worn at night, that holds your lower jaw slightly forward to keep your airway open. Digitally scanned, 3D printed and fitted here in Bolton.
Why this one
Made for your mouth, and nothing else.
Digitally scanned
No impression trays. We scan your teeth and the device is made from that scan, so the fit is exact.
3D printed nylon
Thinner and lighter than an older style device, with no metal parts and nothing to tighten.
Adjustable
How far the jaw sits forward can be adjusted, so we can find the position that works for you.
Quiet and portable
No mask, no hose and no power. It fits in a small case, which matters if you travel.
Is it right for you
Who this suits.
- You snore, and it is affecting your sleep or your partner's.
- You have been diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea and a device has been recommended.
- You have tried CPAP and could not get on with it.
- You want something you can travel with.
Before we make anything
Sleep apnoea is a medical diagnosis, not a dental one. If you have not been assessed, we will help you get that arranged through your GP or a sleep clinic first. A device is only fitted once we know what we are treating, and it is not a substitute for a diagnosis.
We also check your teeth, gums and jaw joint are healthy enough to wear one, since the device rests on your teeth every night.
How it works
Three steps, start to finish.
From your first appointment to wearing it, usually around four weeks.
Consultation and scan
We check your teeth, gums and jaw joint, talk through how you are sleeping, then scan both arches and your bite. A few minutes, and no impression trays.
Your device is made
Your scan goes to Panthera, where the device is 3D printed in nylon to fit only your mouth. Nothing is adjusted by hand to make it fit.
Fitting and review
We fit it, set the starting position and show you how to wear and clean it. Then we see you again to adjust it and check your bite is comfortable.

Questions
Things people ask first.
Will this cure my sleep apnoea?
No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. A device manages the problem while you wear it, by holding your airway open. It does not cure the underlying condition, and it works only on the nights you use it. For many people with snoring or mild to moderate apnoea it makes a real difference to how they sleep and how they feel the next day.
Do I need a diagnosis before you can make one?
If you only snore, no. If you or your partner have noticed you stop breathing, gasp or choke in your sleep, or you are exhausted during the day, then yes. That needs assessing properly through your GP or a sleep clinic before we make anything. We will help you get that started.
Is it uncomfortable?
Most people take a week or two to get used to it. You may notice more saliva at first, or a slightly odd bite for the first half hour after taking it out in the morning. That settles. If it does not, come back and we will adjust it.
Can it move my teeth?
Over years of nightly wear, small changes to the bite are possible. That is why we review you and check your bite rather than fitting a device and sending you away. If we see anything changing, we deal with it early.
How long does it last?
Several years with reasonable care, though it depends on how heavily you grind and how well it is cleaned. We will check it at your regular appointments and tell you when it is getting tired.
I use CPAP. Is this instead of that?
Not necessarily. CPAP remains the most effective treatment for moderate and severe apnoea. A device is usually considered where apnoea is mild to moderate, or where someone genuinely cannot tolerate CPAP. That decision sits with the clinician who diagnosed you, and we are happy to work alongside them.
