Profhilo is an injectable skin booster that improves hydration, firmness and texture without changing the shape of your face. At Dream Smiles Dental in Bolton a course of two sessions, usually four weeks apart, costs £450, and results typically last around six months. Here is how it works and who it suits.

What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is made from a highly concentrated form of hyaluronic acid, the same substance your skin uses to hold on to moisture. Unlike dermal filler, it is not designed to add volume or reshape anything. Once injected, it spreads gently beneath the skin, hydrating it and encouraging the skin to repair and firm itself over the following weeks.
That is why people often describe the result as looking rested, fresh or simply well, rather than different.
What can Profhilo help with?
- Skin that looks dull, tired or dehydrated
- Fine, crepey lines, particularly across the cheeks
- Early loss of firmness, where skin feels thinner or less springy than it used to
- Uneven texture
It will not lift heavy jowls, fill deep folds or change the contour of your cheeks. If those are your main concerns, your clinician may talk to you about other options, such as dermal filler for smile lines and marionette lines.
How much does Profhilo cost in Bolton?
- Profhilo, 1 session: £300
- Profhilo, 2 sessions (usually four weeks apart): £450
- Consultation: free. A £40 deposit secures your appointment and is fully refundable, or redeemable towards your treatment
Most people start with a course of two sessions, because the second treatment builds on the first. After that, a single maintenance session every six months or so keeps the benefit going.
What happens at your appointment
Your first visit is a face to face consultation with Dr Brekhna. She will look closely at your skin, ask about your medical history and what you would like to improve, and tell you honestly whether Profhilo is the right choice. You will get a written plan with the exact cost before anything is done.
The treatment itself is quick. Profhilo is placed with a small number of injections on each side of the face, at set points chosen so the product spreads evenly. Most people find it a little stingy, but very manageable.
What to expect afterwards
You will see small raised bumps where the injections went in. These usually settle within a day, so it is worth avoiding big plans that evening. Some people get small bruises.
- Avoid make up for around 12 hours.
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and alcohol for 24 hours.
- Keep up a good daily SPF, which protects the result and your skin generally.
Results build gradually. Most people notice their skin looks and feels better a few weeks after the second session, rather than the next morning.
Who is Profhilo right for?
Profhilo suits adults who want healthier looking skin without any obvious change to their features. It is a popular first treatment for people who are curious about facial aesthetics but do not want filler. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and you should tell us about any skin infection, autoimmune condition or medication at your consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Is Profhilo a filler?
No. Both are made from hyaluronic acid, but filler adds volume in a specific place, while Profhilo spreads under the skin to improve its quality.
How soon will I see results?
Some people notice a glow within a week or two. The full effect usually shows about four weeks after your second session.
How long does Profhilo last?
Typically around six months, depending on your skin, age and lifestyle. A maintenance session twice a year keeps the results going.
Can I have Profhilo on the same day as my consultation?
Sometimes, but it is never a promise. It depends on your assessment, and if your clinician wants you to wait, that is for good reason.
